This VoiceThread project is aimed at high school students taking a history class where world religion is being discussed. This particular VoiceThread is about Judaism and focuses on a brief overview of the religion itself. The feature unique to VoiceThread is the way in which student can participate, either by typing or speaking a response directly to the VoiceThread online. I believe that most high school students would prefer this method of communicating with their classmates.
Quizlet
The Quizlet below is a short flashcard set that would help my students study for an upcoming test on world religions. I have made sure to focus the 15 flashcards on the highlights, or main points, to study.
This short video is a pictorial walk through the five major world religions. As we have discussed, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism all are ancient religions that are still very much in practice today. Enjoy this brief, and lively, show and see if you can name some of the customs, religious holidays, and religious sites that we have discussed in this lecture.
Glog
This Glog is designed to familiarize high school students with the Jewish faith and her people. There is a brief two minute video to introduce Judaism to the students and then each picture on the glog has a specific link designed to enhance the learning experience. My favorite aspect of this particular Glog is the link from the picture of the Wailing Wall to a live feed from the Wall, students will be able to watch the crowds gather to pray and leave specific prayers, written on small slips of paper, tucked into the 2,000 year old wall.
Prezi
The Prezi that I have created is an introduction to World Religions for a high school social studies class. The Prezi is embedded with videos that provide a more in depth look at the five religions I have highlighted; Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism.
