Sweet Search Sweet Search is a search engine that has been researched and reviews by teachers, librarians and other research experts. There are over 35,000 websites that have been reviewed by Sweet Search.
KidRex- is a child friendly, filtered search engine powered by Google.
refseek- is an academic search engine, that has gotten rid of advertisements and places academic webpages among the top results when searching.
Famhoo- Another family friendly search engine that filters results but pulls from the bigger search engines like AOL and Yahoo.
Wolfram Alpha- A mathematical search engine used for finding answers when dealing with numbers.
Google Scholar- This search engine, run by Google, will search scholarly journals, Supreme Court documents and patent records.
Ask Kids- The kid friendly version of Ask.com. The site is divided into five categories, School House, movies, games, images, and video. Under the School House link kids can find helpful links and topics for the searched phrases.

  • Social Studies Free Video Clips- A great collection of introductory video's for k-12.
  • PBS Teacher- This site has lesson plans pre-made with videos and slide shows, better for higher level social studies classes.
  • C-SPAN Video Archive- Fantastic site for social studies educators. C-Span has a catalog going back 25 years plus, of political speeches, Senatorial and Congressional discussions on the floor and presidential speeches.
